Youth Director - Emily Mooneyhan

Our church family doesn’t simply support its youth; it embraces everything they do. With youth ministry, we engage the thoughtful minds and caring hearts of young individuals, empowering them in their own spiritual journeys. We explore scripture, finding what it means to be a true follower of Christ. These doctrines then come alive in discussions of the current events and relevant issues young people face in their daily lives. A typical Sunday will include time for social activities and games as well as interactive lessons and discussion. Meetings end with dinner and fellowship in our fellowship hall.

The Youth Group also provides an encouraging arena in which young people gain confidence and fulfillment by sharing their unique talents in service to God and others. As part of their own Handbell ensemble, members of the youth group meet with the music director each Sunday to prepare pieces for performance during worship. Other service opportunities include a week in Banner Elk, North Carolina helping with Habitat for Humanity, a Christmas Play, an Autumn Fest (Halloween carnival) and various fundraisers.

Youth Group members also enjoy the chance to meet and share experiences with other groups throughout the state. High School youth attend the Montreat Youth Conference some summers as well as the Trinity Presbytery Youth Retreat, while the Middle School Group goes to the annual Trinity Presbytery Middle School Retreat.

The Providence Youth Group is a wonderful place to celebrate God’s gifts through recreation and camaraderie. Annual getaways, ski trips, Lock-Ins, Lock-Outs, and a host of other events are all important sources of joy that build unity and help welcome any young person to our church family.
